1933 Double Eagle – The legendary gold coin
Come and see most expensive gold coin ever sold on auction. Only two days!
Location: National Museum’s new building, Vinohradská 1, 110 00, Praha 1The 1933 Double Eagle is the most expensive gold coin ever sold on auction. In July 2002 one single 1933 Double Eagle gold coin was sold for a staggering 7, 6 million dollars.
At the exhibition you can see a coin from the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History. Its value is not quantified.
In March 2012 one of the the mythical 1933 Double Eagle coins went on a tour to 7 European cities; London, Dublin, Brussels, Prague, Warsaw, Oslo and Helsinki.
The tour is organized by Samlerhuset Group, parent company of the Národní Pokladnice s.r.o., in collaboration with the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History and the National Museum.
It is the first ever such tour.
