National Museum Library Announcement

The library's collections are also in new homes. We have two new Study Rooms available to researchers; one in the museum's New building and one right in the depository in Terezín. What sorts of materials are available for Study Room is explained below, in the explanation of the library's structure. We apologize for the inconvenience, but for access to the originals of the manuscripts and old prints, you will have to go to Terezín. To minimize the possibility of damage, these items will not be transported to the Study Room in Prague during the museum's renovation, until they return to Prague permanently. Books from the Central Library Department will gradually be made available to researchers. Exactly what is available at any given time will be published on our website, or you may inquire by telephone in the Library Service Department. We are conducting an audit of the entire library after moving it, which is very time- and personnel-intensive. For that reason, even the Prague Study Room will initially be open only one day per week, so that as many of our employees as possible can work on the audit. We ask for your understanding in this matter - moving the entire library was not an easy task and it unfortunately has this unpleasant side effect.
