The Beauty of Butterfly Wings

During the closure of the exhibition, we offer discounted admission fee to the National Museum New Building:
Basic: 80 CZK
Reduced: 40 CZK (for seniors over 60 years, holders of ZTP, ISIC, ITIC, Staff Card, children 6-15 years, secondary school and university students on presentation of student card)

The fascinating beauty and variety of butterfly wings has been attracting humans since anciently. The butterflies became the symbols of delicacy, vulnerability, freedom and natur´s harmony. They inspired the artists, musicians, poets and writers in their creative work, as well as the scientists in their serious research programs.
The exhibition at the National Museum New Building will introduce you to the fascinating diverse world of the butterfly beauty and their important role in the ecosystems. Besides the useful informations on life history, morphology and physiology, the visitors will see over paintings and original scientific ilustrations, books, stamps, listen to the music or read rhymes, all inspired by butterflies. The problems considering extinction and protection of butterflies will be also dealt with.
