William Shakespeare and music

Small exhibition to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare.

Location: Czech Museum of Music, Karmelitská 2/4, Praha 1

400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare reminds a small exhibition in the Czech Museum of Music.

Shakespeare's texts were mainly in the 19th and 20th centuries a major source of inspiration for many composers. There will be displayed a materials which celebrate the 300th anniversary of Shakespeare's birth in 1864 and lesser known works on Shakespearean themes eg. by Vincenzo Bellini, Franz Liszt, Jiří Antonín Benda, Josef Bohuslav Foerster, Karel Weis, Jaroslav Ježek and Jan Hanuš.

The small exhibition is located in the show-case in the long-term exhibition Man – Instrument – Music
