Contemporary Museum in Myanmar

Lecture presented by Nang Lao Ngin – Director of the National Museum (Yangon), Myanmar.

Location: New Building of the National Museum, Vinohradská 1, 110 00, Praha 1

Myanmar is bordered by India and Bangladesh on the west, Thailand and Laos on the east, and China to its north and northeast. The capital city is Naypyidaw and its largest city and former capital city is Yangon (Rangoon).

The lecture will present the history and the present of the museums in Myanmar.

Myanmar has been a member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) since 1997.

The Cultural policy of Myanmar aims to raise national prestige and integrity through the preservation and safeguarding of cultural Heritage and national character. According to the cultural policy, the mission statement of the MORAC is to " Hornor the state with Culture"

Myanmar has abundant and diverse cultural Heritage in both Tabgible and Intangible forms.

This heritage is mainly preserved in the National Museum(Yangon) and Bagan Archaeology Museum together with other Regional Cultural Museum and other Archaeological Museum under the MORAC.


The lecture will take place on Wednesday 28 June, 2017 / 4.30–5.30 PM.
