Faience Workshop: Ceramic Decoration

Get inspired by historical designs and try your hand at the traditional glaze painting technique. Will you stay close to home and follow in the footsteps of the Moravian Anabaptists (Haban pottery) of the Renaissance period, or explore patterns from other regions? Guided by historical examples, the instructor will help you create your own design (and, if needed, a stencil). You will then decorate glazed ceramic forms using ceramic pigments.

The workshop is led by Helena Pecháčková, who studied textile design at the Technical University of Liberec. Her fascination with historical crafts led her to ceramic painting, which she has been practicing for over ten years, focusing on reproductions of historical majolica and faience. In recent years, she has also led several workshops dedicated to this traditional decorative technique.
