Acta Entomologica Musei Nationalis Pragae | 2011/51/2

Mixotrephes (Pictotrephes) pictus subgen. nov. & sp. nov. is described from the Bolaven Plateau in Laos. The new taxon of the tribe Limnotrephini is compared with other two subgenera, Mixotrephes s. str. Papáček, Štys & Tonner, 1989 and Thermotrephes Papáček & Zettel, 2006. Pictotrephes subgen. nov. differs from Mixotrephes s. str. and Thermotrephes by coarse sculpture of cephalonotum and mesoscutellum, wide mesoscutellum with convex sides, and relatively unmodified terminalia of both male and female. In addition this study also reports on the unusually pale hindwing-micropterous morph of Mixotrephes (Thermotrephes) punctatus Papáček & Zettel, 2008 from Meghalaya, northwestern India.
