Unusual crystal evolution of galena at the base metals ore deposit Radětice, SE of Příbram (Czech Republic) A morphologically anomalous occurrence of galena was found out at the Ag-bearing base metals ore deposit Radětice (ca 8 km SE of Příbram, central Bohemia, Czech Republic) during mining operations at the S-1 vein in the 1980´s. Galena forms abundant irregularly bent twig or wire aggregates up to 13 mm in size on greyish-brown calcite scalenohedrons or at fissures of hydrothermal altered wallrocks (granite). These galena aggregates are formed by overgrowing octahedral (or combinations of octahedral and hexahedral) crystals. Chemical compositon of this optically homogenous galena is very simple: Ag 0.03, Pb 86.26, Cu 0.02, Sb 0.01, Bi 0.04, As 0.02, S 13.15, sum 99.53 wt. %. The studied galena probably represents the youngest result of crystallization in conclusion of the supergene evolution stage.
