The present study deals with the way of thematisation and interpretation of the revolutionary year 1848 in the historical thinking of the prominent Czech historian František Kutnar (1903–1983). Based on the broader context of Kutnar’s work, the autor attempts to provide a clear interpretation of the significant features typical for Kutnar’s view of the revolutionary year 1848 and thus made a distinctive contribution to the development of Czech research on the 1848 revolution.
