The paper summarises data on mammals recorded at the beginning of the 19th century in the surroundings of Krnov and in the Nízký Jeseník Mts. These records are a valuable contribution to the reconstruction of occurrence of mammals in the northwestern part of the Nízký Jeseník between 1805 and 1820, since they are the only historical faunistic data con cer ning this region. In his work, the author mentioned the total of 211 wild-living species of vertebrates, out of them 19 being mammals. The most interesting are records of the European souslik (
Spermophilus citellus
), common hamster (
Cricetus cricetus
), fat dormouse (
Glis glis
) and otter (
Lutra lutra
).
