The paper provides the first comprehensive bibliography on the chamois in the Nízke Tatry Mts. Using the key words “chamois” and “Nízke Tatry” altogether, 167 published and unpublished documents from the period 1966–2007 have been gathered. The documents were classified into particular categories according to the Regulation of the Ministry of Education of the Slovak Republic No 13/2005-R of 31 August 2005. Majority of the documents (73, i.e. 43.71%) fell into the BDF category – scientific papers in non-current national magazines. Twenty documents (11.20%) fitted the AEF category – scientific papers in national non-reviewed scientific journals, while 11 documents (6.58%) were listed under the AED category – scientific papers in national reviewed scientific journals. From the timescale viewpoint, the largest number of documents was published in 2002 (15). At the same time, absence of documents about the chamois in the Nízke Tatry Mts was recorded in a number of years (1970, 1974, 1990, 1991 and 1996).
