The addax has been kept in the Prague Zoo since 1979. In total, 78 young were born there and 27 individuals were exported to other zoos. Births were recorded all year round with a maximum in May and at the beginning of June. In all the litters only a single offspring was born, the ratio of males vs. females was 11:9. Almost 31% of the juveniles did not live longer than a half a year. Sexual maturity in young males was reached at the age of 22 months, in females at 18 months. The gestation period was 255–267 days (mean 8 months 2 weeks). The shortest interval between births was 8 months 23 days. The most fertile females gave birth to twelve and ten juveniles. The oldest breeding hind delivered at the age of 13 years, the oldest father was a male at the age of 19 years and 5 months. The highest age was 16 years 8 months in females, 20 years in males. Altogether 13 skulls of the addax were deposited in the collection of the National Museum, Prague, and 4 skulls in the collection of the Prague Zoo.
