Probably in the year 1577, the Prague publisher Jiří Melantrich z Aventina printed a collection of latin-spanish mystic papers, Opus- cula quaedam pia Francisci Borgiae, by St. Franciscus de Borja (1510–1572). The book includes the Spanish printed 1577 Privile- ge of Philipp II., King of Spain, addressed to the Spanish Ambassador in Prague, Juan de Borja, under whose patronage the Spanish writings of St. Franciscus de Borja were translated into Latin (by the Jesuite Alfonso de Deza) and published. It is the earliest docu- ment of Spanish typography in Prague, predating the 1581–1593 Spanish editions by Jiří Černý – Nigrin.
