Annals of the Náprstek Museum is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal published by the National Museum in Prague. It publishes results of research from the fields of anthropology, ethnography, ethnology, material culture studies, archaeology, history and museology with thematic focus on material and spiritual culture and social relations in non-European cultures. Special attention is given to topics close to or directly concerning the collections of the Náprstek Museum of Asian, African and American Cultures. Thus, the journal publishes also papers dealing with the history of the Náprstek Museum and topics related to its founder Vojta Náprstek, his family and friends. The journal includes scholarly studies and texts of other genres in several languages, besides English also in German, French and Spanish. Annals of the Náprstek Museum are currently issued twice a year both in print and online; the publication is free of charge for authors; whole contents of the journal are available in open-access. Annals of the Náprstek Museum have been included into the following databases: Scopus, ERIH PLUS and EBSCO with full-text search in a group "Central & Eastern European Academic Source (CEEAS)".
The journal Annals of the Náprstek Museum has been published since 1962. It was founded by the effort of among others Erich Herold, the director of the Náprstek Museum, Anthropologist Milan Stuchlík and numismatist Jarmila Štěpková. In the following years, the Annals were issued once a year. However, the publishing was interrupted several times; in years 1968–1973, 1976–1979, 1982, 1986, 1991–1996. Since 1997, the periodical has been issued continuously, beginning with 2013 biannually, currently always in June and November.
All contents of older as well as recent issues of the Annals of the Náprstek Museum are freely available at this webpage, the older issues until the year 2012 through the digital library Kramerius of the National Museum. It is possible to buy the recent issues in print via the e-shop of the National Museum, in the museum bookshops or order at the email publikace@nm.cz.

Annals of the Náprstek Museum accepts all contributions from the fields of anthropology, ethnography, ethnology, material culture studies, archaeology, history, museology and related concerning non-European cultures. Papers dealing with the history of the Náprstek Museum and topics directly related to its founder Vojta Náprstek, his family and friends are accepted as well.
Submissions are accepted for the following sections:
Contributions submitted to the Annals of the Náprstek Museum must contain previously unpublished original work. Manuscripts concurrently under consideration for another periodical are to be declined. Manuscripts featuring some form of plagiarism or falsification are to be declined.
All contributions intended for the sections Studies, Materialia and Research Reports are subjected to double-blind peer review by two reviewers (or more if necessary) and after that evaluated by the Editorial Board. Papers may be returned ahead of the peer review process, if they do not meet markedly the requirements for scope, originality or comprehensible language and style (see below).
Contributions are published free of charge.
The peer review and editing process spans usually 5–12 months from the manuscript submission to publication.
Published issues are available in print as well as online in open-access at the journal’s webpage.

Contributions may be written in English (British spelling is preferred but not compulsory) as well as German, French and Spanish language (German, French and Spanish spellings are preferred). The language editing is provided by the publisher for contributions in English. In other cases, the language revision is the responsibility of the author.
Manuscripts including footnotes should not exceed 10,000 words for Studies and Materialia, 6000 for Research Reports and 5000 words for Obituaries, Reviews and Annotations (contributions exceeding recommended length should be consulted with the executive editor). Include also a short abstract (up to 150 words) and keywords (5–7) in English (also the translation of the title to English for manuscripts in other languages), a list of literature, and optionally (see below) captions to tables, figures, and plates. The abstract should be composed and the keywords chosen with special regard to increasing visibility in online search engines (e.g. focus on using relevant terms not mentioned in the title). Manuscripts should be submitted as MS Word document only (.doc; .docx).
Submit tables, figures, and plates as separate files (ideally in a single ZIP archive). Do not insert them into the MS Word document with the manuscript.
