Anthropomorphic statuettes of the Linear and Stroked Pottery Cultures from Bohemia and Moravia – A look inside (Fontes Archaeologici Pragenses 52)

Neolithic anthropomorphic figurines and anthropomorphic depictions of all kinds, as well as sculptures in general, are given due attention. This is because their informative value is specific and irreplaceable by other archaeological sources, because it touches on a certain segment of the life of the society of that time, namely spiritual, or even sacred life. At the same time, it turns out that the position in the hierarchy of social values, which is given to them, can influence the find context from which they come. Therefore, if it is known at all (often it is not, or it is only incompletely definable), it is advisable to use it properly, i.e. to analyse and evaluate it as comprehensively as possible, as is the case, for example, with the assemblage of finds from Chabařovice, Vochov and Polešovice.
