The exhibition Vojta Náprstek Reloaded commemorates the 200th anniversary of the birth of Vojta Náprstek, one of the most prominent figures of 19th-century Czech society. It presents Náprstek as a Renaissance man of his time—a collector, philanthropist, advocate of technological progress, supporter of women’s rights, and a natural “networker” who connected people, ideas, and continents.

The exhibition guides visitors through his life via several key “restarts” that shaped both his personality and public role. It explores his stay in the United States, where he encountered the realities of modern society, as well as his return to Prague, where he had to rebuild his position. It also highlights the personal and professional turning point following his mother’s death, which gave him the freedom to fully develop his vision of a museum institution and fulfill his cultural and social ambitions.
