Department of Theater History, Historical Museum – Study Rooms

Access to the Theatre Department Collections

Researchers interested in studying the collections of the Theatre Department may use the Reading Room of the National Museum Library located in the Historical Building.

Whether collection items will be made available to researchers, brought from the repositories in Terezín to Prague, or provided for study only in Terezín is decided by the curator of the respective collection based on objective criteria (such as the condition of the items).

The number of collection items presented is limited by the volume, nature, and condition of the objects.

Contact and Opening Hours of the Reading Room in the Historical Building of the National Museum:

Publications from the library collections are available for on-site use only in the National Museum Library reading room.

Procedure for Ordering Collection Items:

All orders for collection items to be studied in the research room may be placed in person during visits to the card catalogue, by phone, or via email (see contacts below).

Due to the storage of all collections in Terezín, please allow at least two weeks’ notice.

Accessibility of Collections:

Currently, all collections of the Theatre Department are accessible to the research public.
