The Secret of the Indigo Vat

We invite you to the Ethnographic Museum for a dyeing workshop.

Uncover the secrets of the legendary blue dye known as INDIGO and experience dyeing in an ecological indigo vat firsthand. Guided by natural dyer and artist Jana Šobáňová, you will dye a napkin made of fine wool fabric blue using the Shibori technique. You will learn about the plants from which INDIGO – the “blue gold” of natural dyers – is produced and discover aspects of the rich history of indigo dyeing in the Czech lands and around the world.

Workshop date and time:

  • 18 October 2026 | 3–5 p.m.

The workshop is intended for adults and children aged 8 and above.
Children under 15 may participate only when accompanied by an adult. Thank you for your understanding.

Admission fee:
  • Adults and children aged 15 and over: CZK 600 per person
