Learn about the fate of the book collection of the chateau library and the now defunct Baroque castle
The exhibition The Story of the Chateau Library Újezd Svatého Kříže in the Historical Building of the National Museum presents the fate of the book collection, but also of the now defunct Baroque castle in Domažlice region, through preserved exhibits, period photographs and reproductions of paintings. The exhibition will offer some works from this unique library, mainly from the fields of history, heraldry, law, medicine, theology, but also works dedicated to alchemy, chemistry and Kabbalah, botany and technology. Due to the turbulent history of the library, the effects of a fire in the 1950s, which affected approximately 800 volumes, are still visible on some books.
